At Casa Tamatsi, Moncaya arrives with a simple intention: to listen. Not just to music, but to the desert of Wirikuta itself — its silence, its vastness, its hidden rhythms. In this sacred landscape, sound is not composed, but discovered. Fragments of wind, footsteps, distant echoes, and the subtle pulse of the الأرض are gathered and transformed into pads, percussion, and beats. From this process, new melodies begin to emerge — giving life to compositions such as Canícula and Agni Gayatri. “Casa Tamatsi is a profound encounter with the vastness of the desert. A space that honors space itself, both outer and inner, with a coherence that is hard to find,” Moncaya reflects. What begins as an exploration becomes something deeper — a shift. “I arrived without expectations. I left as a new person, with five new songs, a renewed reservoir of inspiration, many answers and new questions, and new memories that will be hard to erase.” Located in the heart of the Wirikuta Desert in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Casa Tamatsi is an artistic residency set on sacred land for the Wixárika people — a place where humanity and the divine have met for centuries. Surrounded by ancient landscapes charged with spiritual energy, it offers a space for introspection and creation, where silence, memory, and connection to the earth become essential parts of the artistic process.
