This Farm Is Changing the Way We Think About Milk | Ahimsa Dairy Foundation
Can dairy exist without slaughter? This short documentary introduces Ahimsa Dairy, a pioneering not-for-profit farm in Rutland, UK, reimagining what ethical dairy farming can look like. Rooted in the ancient Indian principle of ahimsa, meaning non-violence, the farm is built on a simple yet radical belief: cows, calves and bulls deserve to live full lives, free from slaughter. At Ahimsa Dairy, calves remain with their mothers, cows are never artificially inseminated, no animal is sent to slaughter, and retired cows continue living within the herd. The farm explores a regenerative, compassionate approach that works with the rhythms of nature while producing milk in a way that honours both the animals and the land. This film was produced in collaboration with The Nest, a non-profit creative agency and incubator supporting regenerative farmers and producers to build viable businesses, brands and market presence through storytelling, strategy and content. I contributed as a visual storyteller across multiple projects, helping bring these stories to life through documentary filmmaking. If this story resonates with you, please consider sharing the film and supporting the people working to create more compassionate and regenerative food systems.
