CSX MAC Attack, CN Foreign Power, and more! Railfanning Petersburg and Emporia, VA 3-16/17-26

Two different trips on two consecutive days, for a couple different trains. The first one was taken in the midst of a storm warning in the area. This video is narrated, with a few memes and gifs sprinkled in, so the full stories will appear in the intros to each clip. Enjoy! ALC-42 355 (2:17): NS V62 reverses out of Collier and passes under Vaughan Road. AC44C6M 4653 (ex-C44-9W 9514) ET44AC 3601 (7:40): CSX M810 (M410 curfew symbol) NB. ES40DC 5337 AC4400CW 82 (11:45): Passing two CSX GP40-2s on the way out. (12:49): I wanted to chase M819 down to Carson, but he got up to speed quickly. So I chased him to Emporia, a location I haven't yet visited. Outside the Richardson Memorial Library, we catch Amtrak P079 a second time, just crawling through town. ALC-42 355 (13:57): After this, I relocated to the former ACL depot building, just down the road from BD Tower, at the Emporia diamond, where the A-Line crossed the long-mothballed NF&D. CSX M819 came by with double SD70MACs and now all ballast cars (the trash cars were set off at Collier). This would be my first CSX SD70MAC leader of 2026. SD70MAC 4729 SD70MAC 4551 (16:12): Amtrak P053 SB. ALC-42 360 ALC-42 352 (19:02): I was about to head out, but turned around after hearing that P091 was close. We drive over the NF&P tracks before catching Amtrak P091. ALC-42 356 ALC-42 327 (21:20): We drive by VFW Post 12200 on our way out. No military vehicles unfortunately. (21:42): Rolling alongside I-95 at Stony Creek. (22:19): Later as we roll through Carson, VA again, we'll see that old N&W caboose displayed by the library. Since my last visit there, the N&W letters have been removed for some reason. (22:38): The plan was to return to Collier but because it was getting darker and the weather was still crappy, I instead went to the Petersburg Amtrak Station. CSX M409 passes by with Lilo and Stitch graffiti on one hopper. ES44AH 757 ES44AH 879 (DPU) (25:36): CSX G805 speeds by with a YN2 AC4400CW leading this doubled up coal/grain mix. This train went slow down the Bellwood Sub out of Fulton Yard in Richmond, but once he entered the A-Line in Centralia, he wasted no time! AC4400CW 522 ET44AH 3402 ET44AH 3335 (mid-DPU) SD70MAC 4824 (mid-DPU) (30:33): Amtrak P093 arrives and departs Petersburg. As you can see, the engine caught a tree on its front plow, also left a dent on in front end, and a misaligned coupled. During the station stop, we got to see the engineer step down and remove the tree, as well as straightening out the coupler knuckle. ALC-42 335 (37:18): CSX E331 races NB. ES44AH 882 AC4400CW 514 (40:30): Amtrak P097, arrives and departs Petersburg with a P42 leading, but witha ditchlight out. P42DC 83 ALC-42 375 (46:22): Finally, CSX C445, passes by. They were waiting just North of the station for Amtrak P097 to get ahead and then clear the signal tracks over the Appomattox River. CM44AH 7241 (ex-AC4400CW 244) AC4400CW #35 3-17-26 (52:08): Intro/Riding by the horse pasture again. (53:08): Amtrak P091 races by B.X. ALC-42 346 ALC-42 350 (55:30): Within a minute after P091, CSX L227 appeared around the corner. GP40-2 6972 (ex-CSX 4413/CR 3308) GP40-2 6059 (ex-B&O 4159) (57:48): NS 272 passes Collier with the same power as V62 the day earlier. ET44AC 3601 AC44C6M 4653 (ex-C44-9W 9514) (1:01:25): Amtrak P053 SB. ALC-42 357 ALC-42 364 (1:02:49): Passing the horses again. (1:02:58): Back at B.X., we finally catch CSX B241 with CN foreign power (the train I came out for!). The train is running 2x2, but apparently one of the mid-DPUs was dead. ES44AC 3815 ES44AC 2803 ET44AC 3251 (mid-DPU) AC44C6M 3415 (mid-DPU, ex-C44-9W 2560) (1:10:08): Because the train was going slow enough, I felt lucky and decided to chase him to Carson.
