HOCHKALTER-Überschreitung (~20km/± 2000HM)

When I traversed the Watzmann in 2021, my gaze kept drifting to the right towards the nearest highest peak, the Hochkalter. In the summer of 2024, I was pondering which mountain I'd like to explore, and somehow the Hochkalter kept coming to mind! After watching several videos of the climb and intensively researching trip reports and accounts, the idea matured in my mind to tackle this high-alpine tour, considered more challenging than the Watzmann traverse because it's completely untouched – meaning without any safety equipment. The Hochkalter is the second highest mountain in Berchtesgaden at 2,607 m, after the Watzmann Middle Peak at 2,713 m. I've made every effort to present the tour as detailed and realistically as possible for potential Hochkalter climbers and mountaineering enthusiasts. ``` Tour Information: Waypoints: Hintersee Parking Lot (780 m) - Schärtenalm (1359 m) - Blaueishütte (1680 m) - Schöner Fleck (2029 m) - Kleinkalter (2513 m) - Hochkalter (2607 m) - Ofental - Hintersee Parking Lot (780 m) Tour Length: approx. 20 km Elevation Gain/Loss: approx. 2000 meters (including ascents and descents) Music from the YouTube Audio Library
