Repeated droughts, diseases, increased alcohol content in wine… climate change is taking its toll on vineyards and wine production. At the Pech Rouge experimental unit near Montpellier, INRAE is working with the industry and professionals to find solutions: 🍇 Developing resistant varieties to better withstand water scarcity and disease 🍷 New wine dealcoholization techniques to compensate for the increased alcohol content of wines due to higher sugar levels in grapes ↗️ Acidifying wine to compensate for pH imbalances 💧 Irrigation with treated wastewater to water vineyards while conserving water resources What kind of wine will we be drinking tomorrow?
