Restoration Rusty Handmade Giant Knife

Hello folks! Today I want to show you my new restoration project! Few months ago, I bought this giant knife. It was just piece of good material which needed a lot of work. Restoration process: I went to a large workshop and used a milling machine to remove 0.5 cm from both side. Then, I started to use anglegrinder machine to correct shape of knife. I used a lot of sandpapers for sanding. Further I used grindingmachine and a lot of work of files to made correct line around the knife. When I made bevel on the blade, the belt of sandpaper broke and I continued to work manually. After, I polished knife little via sandpapers and then started to made knife handle. Knife handle I made from oak tree and used copper rivets. To heat treat the blade, I had to go to another workshop and make it there. I don't have a big oven. Tempering of the blade made at home. After I cleaned the blade and used iron chloride, to prevent the blade from rusting. Next step was, I sharpened the knife and made a special stand for it. And finally I made interesting knife test for you. I hope you will enjoy this restoration video. Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention! Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!
