We will be using a ballad backing track in the key of A minor. 1. Dumb things down. We are inclined to throw in front of our listeners all the techniques and licks we just learned. Instead of doing that, start very simple and create a connection with the audience first. 2. Develop your musical ideas. An idea is not necessarily fully understood the first time. You can use the same idea and start developing it by adding more notes and nuances. 3. Perfect imperfections. Little imperfections like using a more loose timing can inject life to your playing. 4. Intent. Believe that everything you play along the track is perfect. Be as dramatic and emotional as you can be. 5. Contrast.
