Pressure points help you to enhance control, induce a certain reaction and directed movement in the attacker or weaken their structure and power. PRESSURE POINTS NOMENCLATURE In the western world a system is often used where each acupuncture point is identified by the meridian on which it is located and its number in the point sequence on that channel. For example, Lu-10 identifies the 10th acupuncture point on the Lung meridian. SJ-3 is the 3rd point on the San Jiao (Triple Heater) meridian. in Aikido it is more important to unbalance the attacker (kuzushi) than to use individual pressure points I recommend using natural anatomical conditions to contact and control uke's body. With increasing level of skill you can start to add pressure points as a contact and control option to increase effectivness of your actions LU-10 is useful for opening the fist It is often better to not grab too firmly and to not get stuck at any particular pressure point. Integrate pressure point contact into your natural movement and use the points to sharpen your adjustment to the partner. Use the points to give direction to your partner. You can use massage to restore the energy flow in your partner's points. You can practise locating the points in self-massage during stretching and warm-up exercise. Contacting the points by hitting, holding, pressing, rubbing etc. - is atemi in a very general sense. Do not rely solely on pressure points, your overall movement needs to be correct as well. KYUSHO JITSU - DIM MAK Kyūsho Jitsu (Japanese Kunst 所 術, dt "Art of Vital Points") refers to the knowledge of the vital points of the human body and their use in the martial arts. Kyūsho Jitsu is not an independent martial art and is not trained as such in Japan. It is a method of working with vital points based on the knowledge and principles of acupuncture and the connection to Western neurology and can be integrated into many martial arts. Beyond knowledge about vital points, advanced users concentrate on principles which can considerably improve the effectiveness of vital point stimulation. The knowledge of the vital points was integrated in most martial arts, not only the Japanese ones. They were known under the name Dim Mak or Dianxue (Chinese styles), Kupso Sul or Hyol Do Bop (Korean styles) and Marma Adi (India). However, with the martial arts developing into sport, this knowledge has largely been lost. While individual pressure points are usually still known, the application in its entirety is no longer taught. Due to the high adaptability and broad applicability of the Kyusho, integration into virtually any known style is possible. This video was recorded in Friesack near Berlin in 2012.
