📚 RESEÑA 📖| THE SANDMAN: Deseo (vol. 2) - Neil Gaiman | PENNYLINE

📚📚 REVIEW of the second ABSOLUTE volume of the dark fantasy and horror comic THE SANDMAN, titled "Desire," written by Neil Gaiman 👇👇 🔴 If you want to buy the comic: https://amzn.to/4oJwTkk This volume features a much wider variety of artists, making it difficult to single out a favorite. However, this doesn't diminish the comic's quality, as Gaiman delves deeper into the mythology of his Endless and blends his world with even more mythology and legends from our own reality. Both the self-contained issues and the main arc of the volume, "Season of Mists," are memorable. One of the strengths of these issues is their ability to make characters from our mythologies feel real and three-dimensional within their world while remaining true to their origins. Likewise, we begin to see the dynamics of the Endless and the role of each sibling, as well as a clear evolution of the dream itself thanks to the effects of their confinement. Gaiman demonstrates absolute control of his work, constantly revisiting elements that have appeared in previous issues, so it's important to keep everything in mind and not consider anything to be mere filler. This volume is also very enjoyable, with impactful, dark, and raw stories, perhaps in a different sense than the previous volume, since this one focuses more on the cruelty of legendary or mythological figures—or even the Endless themselves—rather than that of humans. However, it undoubtedly maintains the high level of both writing and artwork, which consistently preserves the dark fantasy atmosphere the comic aims for, maintaining a certain consistency despite the change in artists. Specifically, this volume collects volumes 3 and 4, which originally compiled the story, and contains issues... Issues 17-28 of the original collection, featuring the stories: Calliope (issue 17) A Thousand Cats' Dream (issue 18) A Midsummer Night's Dream (issue 19) Façade (issue 20) Season of Mists (issues 21-28) These are all excellent stories that contribute to the main narrative, regardless of whether they are part of a longer arc or standalone issues.
