📚 RESEÑA 📖| Hellblazer (John Constantine) - Warren Ellis | PENNYLINE

📚📚 REVIEW of the only complete collection of Warren Ellis's writing for Hellblazer, the series starring street warlock John Constantine 👇 This collection gathers issues 134 to 145, originally published between 1999 and 2000, and specifically contains: “SORROWFUL”, issues 134-139. “LOCKED UP”, issue 140 “THE MANGER”, issue 141 “SUNSET”, issue 142 “TELLING STORIES”, issue 143 “SHOOT”, unnumbered as it was not published in the original numbering. “ASHES AND HONEY”, issues 144-145, written by Darko Macan. Dave Gibbons's "Another Fucking Christmas" story, with his own illustrations, is entertaining and different from the rest of the comic. It's a short comic, as Ellis abruptly left the series after DC refused to publish the "SHOOT" story, which deals with school shootings, since it came right after the Columbine massacre. It's not a collection that thrilled me, mainly because of its portrayal of Constantine as mistreating everyone and an excessively depressed London, as well as the strange graphic style with its aberrant angles and empty pages. However, the stories do have noteworthy elements that are worthwhile and focus on magic. Graphically, there are several artists, none of whom I particularly like. Nevertheless, some work very well with the story, and in general, the coloring is better than in previous volumes. Even so, I only recommend it to completists of the series or fans of Ellis, since nothing essential happens in the character's story. Here's the Goodreads link:   / hellblazer-de-warren-ellis
