🟨WOW..💛My first time covering a 12”x12” canvas with imitation gold leaf, Part 1

Thank you for joining me on this brand new journey of applying goldleaf to a canvas! This is part one - part two is where I will be painting on it. I’m pretty excited. It Is Important to note that I began this video after I had already applied the adhesive. It takes about 15 minutes to dry, and should feel tacky to the touch. The products I used were: 1 - Imitation gold leaf by Guild Gold. It was pretty inexpensive if memory serves correct. In fact you can get imitation gold leaf in many places And because it’s imitation it’s typically very inexpensive. Furthermore I have read that most imitation gold leaf contains a high amount of copper and other metals, but you’d have to find out exactly the ratios depending on the brand you choose. 2 - Adhesive by Mona Lisa 3 - A clean piece of plastic that is not flimsy, (I cut up a piece of heavy duty plastic that I use to cover my table whenever I paint on top of it. I just cut a piece off the roll I had) 4 - A soft clean rag 5 - Sealer (from Mona Lisa kit) In the video I showed you the beginner kit that I bought from the “Mona Lisa” brand. I think that’s a really good idea as a way to begin.  It’s important to mention that I had enough gold leaf to cover a 12 x 12 piece of canvas - But I didn’t use the gold leaf that was from the kit from Mona Lisa…and I don’t know if there’s enough gold leafing in the Mona Lisa kit for a canvas of that size since there was barely enough sealer. So you’ll need to find out exactly the size canvas a beginners kit will cover. Not just with the brand I mentioned but any brand - make sure that you don’t run out of the product in the kit as that will not be fun! ☹️ I urge you to read all the Instructions! Imitation gold leaf can tarnish. So to avoid that I did learn that sealing It is highly recommended. Enjoy #goldleaf #goldleafart
