HOW TO MAKE KANZASHI FLOWER WITH BASIC ROUND PETAL | Episode 1 | Series KANZASHI FLOWER

Welcome to Series KANZASHI FLOWER. Kanzashi art comes from Japan. We can use Kanzashi technique to create colors of the square or rectangular pieces. Now, it becomes more and more popularity all over the world. There are two types of petals - pointed and round. But imagination has no limits, we can create various amazing Kanzashi flowers for decorative things. This is Episode 1 in Series KANZASHI FLOWER. In this video, I share tutorial to make kanzashi flower with basic round petal pattern made of silk ribbon with you. It’s very simple. You can easily do it in your free time. TOOLS: We need to use as list below Scissors Ruler Tweezers Lighter Hot glue gun with glue stick Sewing needle with thread MATERIALS: We need to use as list below Silk ribbon (for petal) Circle felt (for flower base) Bead/ button or artificial stamens (for flower center) STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTION: Step 1: Prepare the petals 1.1. Cut ribbon into square shape, 5 to 8 pcs, quantity of petal is depending on your preference. In this video, I use ribbon in width 2” (5.1cm) to make a demo follower with 6 petals. However, you can use larger or smaller square to make different sizes of flowers according to your end use. Tips for beginner, you should start with larger square as it’s easy. 1.2. Use lighter to gently burn the cut-edge to prevent ribbon fraying. Step 2: Create the petal shape 2.1. Fold the square diagonally into triangle g 2.2. Draw two hypotenuses to align with the vertex of the right angle 2.3. Fold in half back ward to create petal shape 2.4. Trim the end of the petal then use the tweezers to keep it tight for burning to seal cut-edge 2.5. Trim the bottom tip and seal it with the lighter to hold the petal shape Step 3: Assemble the flower 3.1. Use sewing needle with thread to attach all petals together to form a circle flower. 3.2. Other way, you can use hot glue gun to attach the petals together Step 4: Finish touches 4.1. Glue a bead/ button or artificial stamens onto center of the flower 4.2. Glue attached petals onto circle felt. APPLICATION: Completed kanzashi flowers can be used for hair ornaments or attached to purses, handbags, keychain or dresses or whatever you’d like as a decorative touch.
