Lift Your Veil (掀起你的盖头来) | Melody of China Live | International Arts Festival, San Francisco 2026

This lively arrangement of the beloved Xinjiang folk song Lift Your Veil (掀起你的盖头来) brings together the rich traditions of Chinese and Persian music in a vibrant cross-cultural collaboration. The ensemble features erhu (Xiaofeng Zhang), yangqin (Zhao Yangqin), pipa (Zhang Shenshen), guzheng (Zhao Gangqin), sheng (Guo Wanpeng), dizi (Lu Xian), joined by two outstanding Iranian musicians on tar and Persian percussion. The performance also includes exciting improvisation by the erhu, yangqin, pipa, tar, and percussion, creating a dynamic musical dialogue between the two traditions.
