Geological Features • A tectonic window: The Trou de la Tine is a combination of a prehistoric sinkhole (doline) and a rock ledge exposed by erosion. • Microclimate: Inside the rock hole and at its shaded base, the cool temperatures persist for an extremely long time. Even in the height of summer, temperatures inside are often noticeably lower than on the open plateau. On-Site Navigation • Route: The trail passes directly by the base of this massive rock hole. If you hike up the classic Sentier d’Orjobet, you’ll automatically reach a fork in the trail after passing the cave’s exit. • Caution at the upper edge: If you hike the route in reverse and approach from above (from the Plateau Les Crêts), the hole is difficult to see from above and is accessible only via a narrow trail. Extreme caution is advised here at the unsecured edge! Combination Tip: The “Three Highlights Loop” The best way to experience the Trou de la Tine is the classic Orjobet-Corraterie loop. Descent: Back to the parking lot via the Sentier de la Croisette or the Sentier du Coin.
