This Sinfonia by the late 17th-century composer Rocco Greco comes from a Neapolitan collection written for bass violin and cello, a repertoire linked to the rise of the first great cello virtuosi. Preserved in a manuscript discovered by musicologist Guido Olivieri, this music opens a window into a fascinating Baroque sound world. Through lively exchanges between the low strings and the harpsichord, this forgotten musical language is brought back to life—where virtuosity, counterpoint, and improvisation meet.
