Episode V: AI and Our Relationship with the Environment and Natural World (It)

Screens can serve us—but they should not replace sunlight, wind, and wonder. Digital worlds cannot substitute for the senses God gave us to explore and feel the stunning, revitalizing beauty of our natural world and environment. It is reported that some individuals spend seven hours a day looking at a screen. We know excessive time can contribute to depression and anxiety. Overdependence on social media and AI can damage self-esteem, lower confidence, and contribute to mental health challenges. Please find and make time to be in nature and to, as the saying goes, “touch grass.” If you find you are more comfortable on your phone than with people or the beauty, delight, serendipity, and spontaneity inherent in our God-given environment, now is a time to change. One of the great antidotes for today’s 24/7 nonstop digital circus is nature. Technology can inform us, but it cannot transform us without the Spirit. Let us use every tool wisely to point us toward experiences that deepen faith, strengthen families, and renew our wonder in God’s world.
