Today you will understand the most important things about the Three Powers and know what each of them does. The idea of the division of powers began to be thought of by Aristotle, in Ancient Greece, and was later refined by the French Enlightenment philosopher Montesquieu, in his work “The Spirit of the Laws”. The powers are independent, and at the same time, harmonious with each other. Each power has its functions and attributions and can only exercise the functions of another power if there is a provision for this. In our country, the Legislative Branch is divided into three spheres: Federal, State and Municipal. The Federal Legislative Branch is composed of the Chamber of Deputies and the Federal Senate, which together form the National Congress. Our system is called bicameral, because it has two houses. The State Legislative Branch is formed by the Legislative Assembly, which has state deputies and only drafts laws for the territorial scope of each State. The Municipal Legislative Branch is composed of the City Council and is restricted to the limits of the Municipality. The Federal Constitution contains several rules that must be followed by the federal, state and municipal spheres, dividing what is the responsibility of each sphere. The Executive Branch carries out acts of leadership of State and Government, as well as acts of administration. The head of the Executive Branch is the President of the Republic at the federal level, the Governor at the state level and the Mayor at the municipal level. The Executive Branch has the function of governing the people and administering public interests, in accordance with the laws and the Federal Constitution. In Brazil, a country that adopts the presidential system, the leader of the Executive Branch is the President of the Republic, who has the role of Head of State and Government. The Judiciary Branch aims to guarantee individual or collective rights and resolve conflicts between the parties to the process. Its typical function is to judge, also known as the jurisdictional function, that is, to state the law in a specific case. The Judiciary Branch is divided into branches, which are the Labor, Military, Electoral, Federal and State Courts.
