Wild Camp Ireland - First Impressions of My New Rab Ascent 700 Sleeping Bag

Today I’m back in the Sligo mountains – Ben Bulben, Kings Mountain… a place I used to tramp through years ago. Surprisingly sunny hike first day for February in Ireland, but temps dropped fast overnight. This time, I’m wild camping in a secluded valley tucked beneath Kings Mountain, which is on the northern edge of the Dartry range. I’ve brought along my Osprey Aether — its still my go-to for wild camping — and I’m using the Helm 2 again; A Great little tent for these milder conditions. I’m relying on map and compass for navigation, and as you’ll see, that really came into its own. Day one was clear, but day two threw up some interesting challenges. I’m also putting the RAB Ascent 700 sleeping bag to the test — after a cold winter of restless nights, I want to know if this bag finally does the job… or if I should’ve gone for the 900.
