Cão farejador se aposenta após sete anos dedicados ao combate ao tráfico de drogas com a PM de SP

After seven years dedicated to fighting drug trafficking in São Paulo, the Belgian Malinois shepherd Machi will be retiring from the Military Police's Shock Battalion. During his remarkable career as a sniffer dog, he contributed to the seizure of more than three tons of narcotics. Machi arrived at the São Paulo Military Police kennel in 2020 and was trained to work in both tactical control and olfactory detection. Initially under the guidance of Corporal Costa and later Corporal Barbosa, he actively participated in police operations. In 2022, the dog distinguished himself by locating one ton of drugs in Paraisópolis and another 650 kilos in western São Paulo. Currently, the São Paulo Military Police works with 250 sniffer dogs spread throughout the state. Recognition for his exceptional work did not go unnoticed: Machi was elected "dog of the year" by the corporation in 2023 due to his significant contributions to anti-drug operations. The decision to retire Machi came after veterinary evaluations indicated physical wear and tear that could compromise the animal's health if it continued in operational activities. Now out of official missions, Machi will live with its last handler as a pet.
