Superstition - Stevie Wonder COVER

KNICK KNACK PADDY WHACK pushin’ 71(!) can still belt 'em out! Welcome to my Back Porch! It’s a series of performance videos of songs I like to sing, mostly classics from the 1960s to 80s, and a few originals. I used to crank them out twice a week, but I’ve slowed down lately. This is the 90th song I’ve posted on my channel, so see my playlists to check out the back catalog. They’re arranged mainly by different styles of music. (ALL the songs appear, in reverse order of posting date, on ‘Lars’ Back Porch songs’.) I thought a lot about how I want to comment on the lyrics of this song. It was hard to think of anything I feel comfortable saying publicly. Just this: It seems like it would be very easy for somebody who’s—reasonably—considered a bigot to use the words in the chorus to support a lot of nonsense. So I confess, this makes it hard for me to accept that advice as valid. Then how can I feel good about singing the song? That’s easy—it raises valid questions. Whether the song(writer) is successful answering them doesn’t matter. Anyway, it’s a wicked hunk o’ funk.
