PM Giorgia Meloni Slams Protesters After Violence & Clashes In Italy Over Gaza War | N18G Protests broke out in parts of Italy on Monday in solidarity with the people of Palestine. The protesters denounced what they called "the genocide in Gaza." They also clashed with police as officials attempted to disperse them using tear gas. Protesters gathered in front of Rome's Termini Train Station. Local bus and metro services were also disrupted in the area. Teachers, students, and dock workers from 80 towns and cities took part in the strike. Dock workers also blocked port entrances in Genoa and Livorno. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni condemned the protests in Milan. She said that the self-proclaimed “Antifa” members and “pacifists” wreaked havoc and provoked clashes with law enforcement. Meloni also stated that violence and destruction will not benefit Palestinians but will have concrete consequences for Italian citizens, who will end up suffering. The trade unions have demanded that the government end its relations with Israel and recognise Palestinian state, but the government has decided not to do so.
