Planishing and Polishing Principles. Part 1 of 2 - Planishing & Grinding.
I've split this video into two parts owing to its duration. In this forst part I look at some planishing theory and early stage grinding work to clean up you armour either after working on it or heavy rust. It's important to remember that when using 80 grit cleaning equipment you brush the grinder to the work and don't apply too much pressure or you may harm the work. If you see colour through heat transfer stop and check you aren't thinning your work. Apart from that, go easy and slowly and there is very little to it. Sadly no real tricks to speed things along. In this video I use power tools and modern tooling to gain a medieval finish, sometime in the future I will take a look at other more traditional ways of cleaning your armour.
