I've returned from India; my mind isn't just filled with crowded streets, massive population figures, or academic debates, but also with that sentence spoken in Turkish by a Hindu. In this talk, I'm not describing a country, but a mindset: the search for trust and coexistence in pluralistic societies, the conceptual impact of the Hizmet movement on the field and academia, Hocaefendi's ethics-centered perspective on global peace, and the necessity for the Muslim world to conduct its own self-assessment… A healthy future cannot be built without confronting traditional interpretations ranging from Deobandi to Barelvi, without separating religion from culture, and without reconciling science with faith. We are discussing the possibility of a "dialosprit" beyond interfaith, that is, the effort to bring together the common moral message of the prophets on a rational basis. My impressions of India ultimately boil down to a single question: How can the Muslim world contribute to global peace if it cannot achieve its own intellectual renewal?
