Minnehaha Falls - Wild Swimming - North Katoomba - Blue Mountains - 4K
Minnehaha Falls in North Katoomba is possibly one of THE most popular short walks to a spectacular waterfall as well as probably the most popular wild swimming spot at the base of a waterfall in the Blue Mountains. (Sorry, we did not swim, the breeze was freezing on the winters morning we were here) We have re-uploaded and adjusted this original video due to the author of the music we used putting a copywrite claim on the video, even while the music piece is still listed as free to use, copywrite-free. We don't agree with them doing this, and it is not the first time, so, we replaced the music, updated the video and have re-uploaded. It is a well-defined and signposted walking track from the car park to the base of the falls and the pool. It is only about 1.5kms to the falls and most of the track is pretty easy, there are some steps as well as steel ladders / steps as you get towards the bottom. Plenty of places as you walk along the creek to explore and "discover" small but pretty cascades, even some deep enough for kids to paddle. In summer, this place is PACKED out, so, if you want to attempt to get the place to yourself, go really early, even in winter, there were multiple large groups visiting and swimming. We just happened to get the place to ourselves for 10 minutes between groups and barking dogs. Yes, this is not in the national park, so dogs are allowed, and we saw plenty, just keep in mind the steep metal steps / ladders that need to be negotiated. The pool is quite deep and undercut and from memory, people have drowned here over the many years people have been coming to admire the falls and swim in the pool. The rocks here can be VERY slippery, so take great care when walking around the pool.
