Russian-Speaking Yatra Celebrates Rama Navami & Vrikodar Prabhu Leads Ecstatic Kirtan1 on MAR29 2026

Rama Navami is the sacred appearance day of Lord Sri Ramachandra, who is accepted as one of the principal incarnations (avataras) of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Sri Krishna. It is celebrated on the ninth day (Navami) of the bright fortnight of the lunar month of Chaitra. Gaudiya Vaishnavas understand Lord Rama to be the same Supreme Lord who later appeared as Sri Krishna. Although Krishna is accepted as the original form of God (svayam bhagavan), Lord Rama is worshipped with the same reverence because He is a full manifestation of the Supreme Lord. According to the Ramayana, Lord Rama appeared in Ayodhya as the son of King Dasaratha and Queen Kausalya. His earthly pastimes demonstrate perfect adherence to dharma, truthfulness, compassion, courage, and ideal kingship. ISKCON devotees especially honor Lord Rama's unwavering commitment to righteousness, His devotion to His devotees, and His exemplary relationships with Sita Devi, Lakshmana, Bharata, and Hanuman. A central lesson emphasized in ISKCON is that Lord Rama's pastimes reveal the qualities of a perfect devotee as well as the qualities of the Supreme Lord. Hanuman's unalloyed devotion to Lord Rama is often presented as one of the highest examples of devotional service (bhakti). Srila Prabhupada frequently pointed to Hanuman as the model of selfless service to God. On Rama Navami, devotees typically: • Fast until noon, the traditional appearance time of Lord Rama. • Decorate the temple and Deities. • Read and hear narrations from the Ramayana and Srimad-Bhagavatam. • Chant the holy names of the Lord. • Perform kirtana and arati. • Honor a special feast after the fast is broken. Theologically, Rama Navami reminds devotees that the Supreme Lord descends into the world to protect the righteous, annihilate demoniac influences, and reestablish religious principles. This is consistent with Krishna's statement in the Bhagavad-gita: Although this is only the opening portion of the verse, the full teaching explains that the Lord appears whenever there is a decline in dharma and an increase in irreligion. For ISKCON devotees, Rama Navami is not merely a commemoration of a historical event. It is an opportunity to deepen one's appreciation for Lord Ramachandra's divine character and to pray for the qualities exemplified by His devotees—especially faithfulness, humility, courage, and unwavering devotion to the Supreme Lord. Srila Prabhupada taught that by hearing about Lord Rama, chanting His holy names, and remembering His pastimes, one becomes purified and advances in Krishna consciousness. Therefore, Rama Navami is observed with great joy and devotion throughout ISKCON temples worldwide. “How to be happy?
