Twitter @juangangel The term "shrimp farming" refers to shrimp farming, but the use of common names can lead to confusion, since the same criteria are not followed in all countries, especially when it comes to shrimp and prawns. What is known in Spain as "langostinos" corresponds to the "shrimp" of countries in the Americas and Asia, that is, crustaceans of the Penaeidae family. The crustaceans that are called prawns in Chile are not even members of the swimming macrura group. Currently, the trend in Latin America is to call species of the Penaeidae family "marine penaeid shrimp" or simply "shrimp," while freshwater species of the Palaemonidae family are called "langostinos."
