THE JESUS LIZARD - 10/19/1990 - O'Cayz Corral - Madison, WI - O'CAYZ ARCHIVE PROJECT Show # 005

The Jesus Lizard’s October 19, 1990 O'cayz show comes from a period when the band was steadily growing their following in the underground. Formed in Chicago in 1987, they were touring heavily at this point and played O’Cayz Corral several times during these early years. This stop on the tour came as they were promoting Head, released earlier in the year on Touch and Go Records. Yow and David Wm. Sims had previously played together in Scratch Acid, and Sims also worked with Rey Washam in Rapeman, recorded by Steve Albini, who went on to produce the band through Down. After breaking up in 1999, The Jesus Lizard reunited in 2008 and again in 2017, eventually releasing a new album in 2024. Lineup (1990): David Yow – Vocals Duane Denison – Guitar David Wm. Sims – Bass Mac McNeilly – Drums Big thank yous goes to Skip, Tyler & Jeff with their help on this project. About: The goal of the O’Cayz Archive Project is to digitize and share significant performances from the storied history of O’Cayz Corral. Cassette tapes often deteriorate or are discarded over time, with many of these recordings existing only as a single copy. Digitizing and sharing them now is crucial to preserve these recordings before they are lost forever. Please reach out if you have a recording you would like to share.
