Incentives for the Film Industry. National Palace We are announcing tax incentives to strengthen the film sector in Mexico; these will generate jobs and contribute to the development of new talent. Tomorrow, we will publish this model in the Official Gazette of the Federation, which will mean greater economic benefits; the goal is to live up to the expectations of our people and their creativity. From the National Palace, we reiterate that this mechanism arose from the need to film more in Mexico, including international, national, and independent productions. The incentive truly aims to support those productions that would otherwise not have the opportunity. At the same time, it seeks to attract international projects, guaranteeing that Mexicans are hired in all professions related to filmmaking. This plan is comprehensive: it includes talent development, production, exhibition, and preservation of audiovisual materials. The School of Cinematographic Arts and Crafts, located in the Fourth Section of Chapultepec Forest, is a meeting place for young people and industry professionals to receive training in all areas of audiovisual creation. We also highlight the expansion of the Film Training Center (CCC) at the National Center for the Arts (Cenart) to increase enrollment in film studies and related industry trades. It is certified by the Ministry of Public Education (SEP). Everything is free; culture is a right, not a privilege for a select few. Mexico is a magnificent, extraordinary country, not only for its ecological diversity, but also for its history and resilient people. Incentives include a tax credit against income tax (ISR) of up to 30 percent of expenses incurred within Mexico, capped at 40 million pesos per project. To strengthen and protect the Mexican film industry, projects must have at least 70 percent domestic suppliers to attract international productions and encourage domestic productions to remain in Mexico.
