Hey Fig Fam! Like! Subscribe! Reach out with questions and comments! Figs do need water and watering in the summer is a very important for fig trees in containers and fig trees in the ground especially newer and younger in-ground figs. Despite their origins in the central asia, middle east, mediterranean and their ability to grow in arid climates as well as the humid southeast (like my growing area!), Figs needs some level of water management until they are established in the ground and depending on your soil conditions in the ground or in containers. Regular watering is a must not just for hydration but for hot temperatures as well! Figs have the wonderful ability to grow in a variety of soils and conditions as long as they are on the warmer side of the growing zones, but depsite their ability to grow in desert-like conditions they still need some good solid watering strategies especially if they are in containers. Let me know your thoughts and how your watering strategies have worked for you and your garden? What watering issues do you have? Let me know if this was helpful!
