S3 | EMR | 222 102 Sheffield - York (the last EMR to York?) [Local Focus Installment 7]

With the imminent withdrawal of the HST from the Midland mainline, there has been a lot of focus on the HSTs operating between Leeds, The Cities and large towns of the East Midlands and London. This happens to fall in line with the upcoming change of timetables on May 17th 2021. From the new timetable, there will be no more booked HST workings with EMR. However, I also couldn't find any EMR services beyond Doncaster to York. Rumour has it that EMR were looking to send their York services via Pontefract instead of Doncaster, another Rumour I heard was it was due to the low usage of this service, and many other rumours. The fact of the matter is, that they are rumours. Personally I take them with a pinch of salt. So, with no more EMR services showing up to York in the new timetable, could this be the last Saturday down service from London St Pancras through to York? Maybe. Whilst I can't be sure if it really is the last through service to York from St Pancras, I thought I'd enjoy this service should it not return. Join us, as we take the ex 06.33 St Pancras - York service, starting at Sheffield. After a 33 minute wait at Sheffield, 222 102 (Ex Hull Trains Pioneer) makes it way to Doncaster, before proceeding down the ECML, to York, reaching 125mph. 222 102, having been an ex Hull Trains unit, is certainly no stranger to Doncaster, as it would have frequently visited Doncaster in the Days it was with Hull Trains. With the timetable change coming, I figured I'd start season 4 of the Ride alongs. This will be the plan going forward, to decide videos onto seasons as the timetable changes. Like what you see?
