Water Heater Disaster! Replacing a 26-Year-Old Water Heater + Fixing Mast Wiring on the Erie Canal

In this week's episode, we're in Phoenix, New York, along the Erie Canal tackling some unexpected boat maintenance. Just two days after buying a new washer and dryer, our 26-year-old water heater decided it was time to retire by springing a leak. What should have been a simple replacement turned into a much bigger project involving tight spaces, soft copper plumbing, PEX modifications, leaks, and plenty of frustration. While preparing for the Erie Canal journey, I also discovered a mess of wiring at the base of the mast. Between damaged splices, non-waterproof connections, and troubleshooting lights and electronics, it was time to clean things up and make the wiring more reliable.
