This telenovela was filmed entirely on location in the city of San Martín de los Andes. It stars Gustavo Bermúdez, Héctor Alterio, Silvana Di Lorenzo, and Silvia Montanari. Pablo's father (Alterio) had spent a long time in prison for a crime he didn't commit. During that time, his son (Bermúdez) was adopted by a couple who, before dying, bequeathed him a house in Patagonia. Father and son meet in that city and, unaware of their blood relation, become great friends. Meanwhile, Pablo falls in love with his neighbor Nora (Silvana Di Lorenzo), an older woman with a son. Pablo's biological mother, Fanny (Montanari), is a powerful politician about to become governor of the province. She gave her newborn son to a trusted person, asking them to make him disappear. The central theme of the novel is the relationship between this father and son who, after so much time, reunite to make up for lost time. In 1996, when the city of San Martín de los Andes celebrated the Mountaineer's Festival, 2,000 people gathered around the participants of the traditional lumberjack competition. The production team of the telenovela took advantage of the opportunity to film a scene of one of Fanny's (Montanari's) many political rallies. Currently, there is a tourism agency with the name of the fictional series that maintains the cabin that belonged to Pablo and Nora, the characters played by Gustavo Bermúdez and Silvana Di Lorenzo. "Alén, luz de luna" won three Martín Fierro Awards (Best Telenovela, Best Production, and Best Actor for Héctor Alterio).
