V/Line Passenger Trains at Goornong; Victoria's Newest Train Station

In this video we visit the new station at Goornong, situated on the Echuca Line in Victoria's north. Opening on the 12th December 2021; it's the newest train station in the state to be added to the rail network. The station serves the small town of Goornong, situated in the Greater Bendigo area around 159km north of Melbourne along the Midland Highway. At the 2016 census the town had a population of 654. Here at the new station we see a couple of V/Line Vlocity trains arrive and depart the station; including standard sets and some of the new generation sets. The new station itself is a pretty standard basic new build V/Line station; with a simple platform with passenger information displays, CCTV, some seating and a "heritage" style shelter. Outside the station there's some bicycle hoops, some landscaping and a small car park. Goornong is the first of three new stations to be built in the Greater Bendigo area. New stations are also under construction at Huntly on the Echuca Line, and Raywood on the Swan Hill Line. These stations are slated for opening in mid-2022 and late-2022 respectively.
