Federal Signal 2001-130 Siren Test | 1 Minute Alert | Lakeview, OH | 6/27/25
Location: By intersection of N Oak Street & US-33 System: Logan County Test time: Every Friday at noon Enthusiasts present: Tommy (@buckeyenotifications), Benicio (@CentralOHSirens) For those of you who don't know, on March 14th, 2024, an EF-3 tornado passed right through the southern side of the Indian Lake area. Lakeview's 2001 pretty much took a direct hit, leaving it heavily damaged, along with many of the buildings in the surrounding area. While this was happening, my family and I were taking shelter, because my house appeared to be directly in the path of this same tornado. Thankfully, it cycled and missed me by about 3 or 4 miles to my south, so I am very lucky to still be here today. Shortly after the tornado, West Shore Services came out and replaced Lakeview's damaged 2001 with a new one, and for the last Friday of June, we carpooled Benicio with us to hear it for a test. Tommy and I actually attempted to film this on the 1-year anniversary of the tornado, although Logan County ended up not testing that day out of respect for the victims of the tornado, which is honestly fair. Thankfully, this time around was a success, and they activated right at noon. This one is pretty high-pitched, and it packed quite the punch. I'd say this is on the louder side of 2001s I've heard, although definitely not the loudest. I once again used my mom's R50 for this one, this time using it for a Rule of Thirds shot. I also decided to try setting my FZ80 to record in 4K30 for a few tests to see how it looked, so that's why the frames on the FZ80 shot don't look as smooth as usual. I honestly don't think there's a huge difference in sharpness, so I'm probably going to keep it on 1080P60 for most tests (after I get through the ones where I had it on 4K). Anyway, this was a pretty neat one, and you can occasionally hear some passing vehicles generate a doppler effect, which is pretty cool. Enjoy! Tight shot: Panasonic Lumix DC-FZ80 Wide shot: Canon PowerShot SX60 HS Rule of Thirds shot: Canon EOS R50 Audio: Zoom H1n
