Parnasalankam Koodiyattam

Nepathya presented the last day of Parnasalankam Koodiyattam at Prekshaka Festival at Vazhenkada Kunchu Nair Memorial Trust, Karalmanna, on April 12, 2026. It starts with Rama and Sita sitting on the banks of the Godavari and marvelling at the forest scene in front of them. Sita says this is any day preferable to life in the palace. In the next scene Lakshmana is about to go and inform Rama that the parnasala or hermitage for him and Sita to live in is ready. Lakshmana is sad to see Rama roughing it out in the forest. He gets angry with Mother Kaikeyi for this state of affairs. Rama tries to convince Lakshmana that it is their good fortune that they can enjoy forest life. Lakshmana still vents his fury at Kaikeyi. Then Rama tells Lakshmana that the real reason for Dasaratha’s death is not Kaikeyi but a curse he received from an aged couple for killing their son while on a hunt. Lakshmana is pacified. Rama and Sita enter the new hermitage and marvel at Lakshmana’s skill in erecting it. On the mizhavu are Kalamandalam Manikantan and Nepathya Jinesh with Kalanilayam Rajan on Idakka.
