Effet Pygmalion : ce que votre manager attend de vous sans le dire

In 1968, Robert Rosenthal and Lenore Jacobson demonstrated in Pygmalion in the Classroom that a teacher's expectations of randomly selected students are enough to make those students progress more than others. A meta-analysis by Eden, published in 1990, found the same effect in the workplace. A manager's positive expectations increase a team's performance by an average of 17 to 30%. Cognitive psychology describes this phenomenon. Psychoanalysis explains its underlying mechanism. Freud theorized transference as early as 1912, and Melanie Klein introduced projective identification in 1946. What the manager projects onto the employee, the employee eventually embodies without being aware of it. In this video, I explain how Pygmalion actually operates within organizations, why the Golem effect is its silent and destructive counterpart, what Freud and Klein discovered about the unconscious mechanisms at play, and why simply telling people to believe in their colleagues isn't enough if they don't work through their own transference. 00:00 Introduction 01:30 Rosenthal and Jacobson: The Foundational Experience of 1968 04:00 Freud and the Dynamics of Transference 06:30 Klein and Projective Identification 09:00 The Golem Effect as the Reverse Side of Pygmalion 11:30 Eden's Figures: 17 to 30% Performance 14:00 Why Expectations Are Unconscious 16:30 What a Manager Can Really Work On 19:00 The Employee's Room for Maneuver Subscribe for insightful videos at the intersection of psychoanalysis and everyday life. #pygmalion #rosenthal #freud #klein #management #hr #psychoanalysis #leadership #performance #transference
