Mafalda Cancela de Abreu - “O médico que acreditou e contra todas as probabilidades sobreviveu!”

We have a great mutual friend, and we've crossed paths several times throughout our lives. The first time I met her was in sevelhanas dance classes, and Mafalda dances so well! Married with two young children, on December 23, 2023, she was admitted to the ICU with pneumonia and given a 20% chance of survival. During her hospitalization, she had to have a foot amputated and parts of the fingers of one hand. We talked about that, but also about Mafalda's life as a mother who lost a baby while pregnant, but then Estevão was born, which was a wonderful pregnancy. With her second child, things didn't go well, and she had HELLP syndrome, resulting in Lourenço being born prematurely, and all that that entailed. She likes to always be impeccable, loves taking care of herself and her loved ones, and knows that she is close to perfection in what she does. This great scare between life and death made her better and even stronger. Ultimately, mental strength is what you always ask God for because you know that as long as you have it, you can achieve anything.
