Hello, this is Hidden Seoul. In this video, we walk through Oryu 1-dong in Guro-gu, on the western side of Seoul. The walk begins at Oryu Station, passes through the old Oryu Market, and continues into the quiet residential streets surrounding Oryu Elementary School. Oryu Market is a traditional neighborhood market that has long served the everyday needs of local residents. Beneath its weathered roof, small shops and narrow passageways preserve the atmosphere of an older, less polished side of Seoul. The market is now awaiting a major redevelopment project, but its familiar old appearance still remains for the time being. Beyond the market, low-rise homes, small neighborhood businesses, and school-side alleys reveal an ordinary part of Seoul rarely seen in travel guides. Airplanes also pass relatively close above this area, and their sound can occasionally be heard drifting through the streets. Today, we quietly record the everyday scenery of an old Seoul neighborhood shaped by its market, school, and generations of local life.
