TIG Welding broken fins on motorcycle cylinder barrels. Part 2 - BSA Gold Star Nightmare!

Not sure that the practice run on the Vincent barrel in part 1 actually helped much! The BSA is definitely made of a harder, more brittle alloy & harder alloys are often not so good for welding due to the alloying elements they contain. I tried different filler rods - 4043 (5% Silicon) my usual choice for castings, 5356 (5% Magnesium) stronger but sometimes more prone to cracking, & 1050 (99.5% pure Aluminium) more ductile so less likely to crack but not very strong.
