【ルポ】「地域の宝 つなぎたい」～前編～ 能登半島のキリコ祭り

More than six months have passed since the Noto Peninsula earthquake on New Year's Day. With reconstruction in the region slow to progress, the holding of summer festivals on the Noto Peninsula is in doubt. One of these is the traditional Kiriko Festival, which is held throughout the peninsula from summer to autumn. Amid this, the Abare Festival took the lead and was held in the Udezu district of Noto Town, Ishikawa Prefecture, in early July. The port town was filled with excitement as carriers vigorously moved the approximately 7-meter-tall kiriko lanterns. Meanwhile, Takaradate Town in Suzu City, which suffered devastating damage from the earthquake and tsunami and lost its kiriko lanterns, has decided to cancel its Takaradate Tanabata Kiriko Festival. This is the first part of a documentary that follows the residents as they seek to carry on their traditions despite the disaster.
