From birth to marriage, from childbirth to death, every stage of life cannot be separated from the Suona’s accompaniment and influence, which flows in the oral and mental world of every person from Northern Shaanxi. The Suona is also a spiritual monument engraved with their joys, sorrows, and partings. The composer has a deep affection for the Suona and was moved by the Shaanbei people’s attachment and persistence towards this very instrument, which drove her to create this utmost sentimental concerto with the most ardent melodies.
