Main Street Level Crossing, Pakenham 3810 VIC Australia Line: Pakenham/Gippsland lines Chapters: 0:00 Intro & Crossing description 0:35 Activation (South side) 9:47 Activation (North Side) This level crossing is located on the Pakenham line, adjacent to Pakenham Station, which sees suburban EMUs, as well as regional DMUs. As of the time of publishing, work is underway and nearing completion on grade separation at this level crossing, along with 2 other level crossings nearby, being McGregor Rd and Racecourse Rd, Pakenham; and a new Pakenham station. The crossing equipment includes: Westinghouse Incandescent Lights Westinghouse LED Lights (old and new style) McKenzie and Holland Incandescent Lights Westinghouse Crossarms 1 General Signals Type 2 E-Bell, and 1 Type 3 E-Bell Western-Cullen Hayes Boom Gate mechanisms 2 Unmarked Bases, 1 Concrete Base, and 1 VR Base As of publishing, this crossing has been listed as one of the level crossings to be removed by the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), and is in the middle of grade seperation. Trains are set to run overhead in an elevated rail corridor over McGregor Rd, Main St, and Racecourse Rd. This project includes a new Pakenham Station, and a short electrification extension to a newly built Pakenham East Station. This is planned to be finished by this year (2024).
