#diyelectronics #diyaudio An analogue multimeter is a very handy tool when working with tube equipment, especially when aligning tube radios. When you do an IF alignment of a radio, the objective is to detect peaks and troughs of the signal, which becomes much clearer when you're looking at the movement of an analogue multimeter's needle. Another aspect of great importance is the device's input impedance. The higher the better, because it then has a very small loading effect on the device under test. Usually a tube VOM was recommended for the above tasks, but with the advent of the transistor, alternatives became available. The FET is a very high input impedance transistor, so a FET voltmeter is perfect for the task. The one presented here is in very good physical condition. What about its working status? Lets find out.
