We Didn’t Buy Dinner. We Found It Around the Village | Rural Vietnam

Today, we did not buy dinner from a store. In my village in northern Vietnam, a simple meal can begin in many places: in the soil, by the pond, in the garden, and finally in the kitchen. We dig for bait, go fishing at a small pond, pick fresh vegetables from the garden, check a jackfruit that is not ready yet, and then bring everything home to cook a simple dinner. To some people, this may look like survival. But for us, this is also a peaceful and happy way of living. It is slow, simple, and connected to the land around us. My name is Ly, and this is a small part of life in rural Vietnam.
