Kent & East Sussex Railway: ‘Robertsbridge Open Day’ | 18/04/26

The Kent & East Sussex Railway, joined with the Rother Valley Railway, would play host to an open day at Robertsbridge Junction station to celebrate the opening of the newly constructed station. The Hastings Unit no 1013 would join the festivities to run shuttle services down to Northbridge Street, the current operating limit of Rover Valley trains. The six car configuration of the Hastings Unit was able to join onto the Rother Valley Railway premises via their mainline connection, also work recently was carried out on lengthening the existing headshunt to allow longer trains, such as 1013 in this case, onto the railway. We first capture 1013 on the ECS ,from the depot at St Leonards, at a new crossing i haven’t explored yet on Wadhurst Bank before a scurry over to Tunbridge Wells to capture it heading south towards Robertsbridge. The current aim is to complete the extension to Robertsbridge by 2028 and thus returning steam and diesel traction back to this quaint Sussex village.
