The Bluebell Railway - (Putting Back the Track Vol. 1(2)
The Bluebell Railway in Sussex pioneered the preservation of standard gauge railways back in 1960. But the enthusiasts could only afford to buy an isolated fragment of a much longer through route from Lewes to East Grinstead. For years they dreamed of one day relaying the missing track and joining-up with the main line once more. Huge barriers lay in their path, but each challenge was met and overcome. This video tells their story, from the line's uncertain beginnings, to its triumphant return to East Grinstead station, where it connects once more with services to London. Written and narrated by ANDREW JOHNSTON Filmed and edited by IAN STUART LYNN
