In this episode, we head to the market in La Rochelle to prove one simple thing: a great dinner on a yacht doesn’t have to cost a fortune. We buy fresh Fine de Claire oysters, Atlantic cod, French bread, vegetables, and wine, then prepare a complete dinner right on board a Dufour 360. Along the way, we’ll explain how the French choose oysters, why size No. 3 is the most popular, how to find good and affordable French wine, and which products are really worth buying at local markets. We’ll also take a look inside the galley of a modern sailing yacht and show just how comfortable life can be, even on a boat that’s only 10.5 meters long. During our sail to Île de Ré, we’ll talk about the island’s history, the tides, its famous salt marshes, oyster farms, and why this island has remained one of the favorite destinations for sailors on France’s Atlantic coast for generations. And most importantly, we’ll prove once again that the joy of yachting isn’t defined by the price of your boat or your wine.
