In the Moscow region, detectives busted a drug farmer with 71 marijuana plants and 1.5 kilograms. Officers from the Public Monitoring Commission of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Odintsovo District detained a 37-year-old man with a criminal record. Six months ago, his buddy set up a grow room complete with lamps and ventilation in his country house in Istra, bought cannabis seeds, and began growing "datura weed" for sale. During the search, investigators found 71 cannabis plants, five containers of plant material, two bags of leaves and stems weighing over 9.5 kilograms, as well as a vacuum sealer, packaging, and scales. A grinder and containers containing traces of the drug were seized from another agronomist's home. An examination revealed that the plants were hemp, and the dried mixture was marijuana weighing over 1.5 kilograms. Two criminal cases were opened against the brother: under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 3 of Article 228.1 of the Russian Criminal Code (attempted sale on a large scale), and Part 1 of Article 231 of the Russian Criminal Code (illegal cultivation).
