Officers from the Main Directorate of the National Countermeasures Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, along with their colleagues from the Moscow Region Directorate of National Countermeasures and the Ramenskoye Municipal Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, detained the 33-year-old organizer of an underground laboratory. His brother rented a house in the village of Ryleevo, where, under the guidance of anonymous handlers, he set up a full synthetic chemical production cycle. He obtained the components and precursors through drop boxes. During the search, detectives seized laboratory equipment, reagents, and three containers of the finished product. An examination revealed it to be an N-methylephedrone derivative weighing over 3.5 kilograms. But the real catch was yet to come: coordinates of a cache were found on his buddy's phone, where investigators dug up three more bags of the "salt," weighing a total of approximately 27 kilograms. In total—30 kilograms of the stuff, which the man distributed wholesale throughout the Moscow region. Now the brother has been charged under Part 3 of Article 30 and Part 5 of Article 228.1 of the Russian Criminal Code (attempted distribution on an especially large scale).
