Bush Plane Camping on a Frozen Lake in Alaska (Pike Catch & Cook)

Honey and I flew my vintage Cessna 170B bush plane into the Alaska wilderness for a fly-in pike fishing and airplane camping adventure. Our goal was simple: land on a frozen lake, catch northern pike, cook them over a campfire, and spend the night sleeping in the bush plane while experiencing the freedom of true backcountry aviation and wilderness camping. With no roads, no cabins it was a beautiful setting out on the lake. After landing on the frozen lake, Honey and I set up camp, drilled some holes in the ice, and spent the day fishing for northern pike. As evening arrived, we built a campfire, cooked our fresh catch over the fire, and settled in for a peaceful night surrounded by the Alaska wilderness. The plan was simple: spend one night on the lake and fly home the next morning.
